One-line description
The New Field (TNF) is an emergent synthesis of Internal Family Systems and Family Constellations that goes beyond both frameworks individually — not yet a defined methodology, but a set of structural claims that have arrived independently across several sessions and are still finding their shape.
Purpose / role in the ecosystem
TNF sits above sgbh in the continuum: where SGBH teaches facilitation, TNF is what advanced facilitation becomes once a facilitator has done sufficient inner (IFS) and systemic (Family Constellations) work. It is not a public-facing offering and not yet a methodology to teach — it is positioned as the advanced layer the continuum has been pointing toward, with mmh as the root framework underneath it and toi as a tributary source of some of its sharpest material to date.
Current state (updated 2026-06-26)
Emergent, not in development. No formal build has begun and none is scheduled. What exists is a set of structural claims that have surfaced on their own, from independent sessions, rather than being deliberately authored toward a plan:
- The operational distinction between the two frameworks: IFS asks what part of you needs to be seen; Family Constellations asks whose story you’re living and whether it belongs to you.
- The FC mechanism stated precisely: “Knowing it doesn’t move it. Only something in the field moves it.”
- The ancestral-loyalty hypothesis: hiddenness itself may be a form of loyalty to ancestors who were not allowed to be seen — a reframe of avoidance/visibility resistance with real diagnostic use beyond any one person’s case.
These claims have been separated from a larger body of anecdotal/personal source material that remains valuable as lived ground but does not generalize and is held separately in TNF-THESIS-CORE-v1.0 and the Notion source page.
Key relationships
mmh is the root framework — IFS can be named and taught directly at MMH’s advanced-practitioner level, and TNF is the next rotation past that point. toi is a tributary source: a TOI-side session produced the ancestral-loyalty addendum and the precise FC-mechanism statement, the two sharpest claims TNF has produced so far. sgbh facilitation training is the most likely place TNF gets reached for next, once/if active development begins. Pointer stubs exist in both toi (TOI-TNF-STUB-v1.0) and continuum (CONTINUUM-TNF-STUB-v1.0) KBs.
Kumu map note (added 2026-06-26)
TNF is present on the kumu ecosystem map under the label “New Field” (gray/default node styling, not yet color-coded). The current render shows two inbound edges: DCF → New Field and MMH Core → New Field, with no outbound edges and no visible TOI → New Field edge. Per Brian: a prior visual-decluttering pass removed links from the display that still exist in the underlying data. The absence of a TOI → New Field edge should be read as “not visible in this render,” not “confirmed absent.”
Status note
The right word for TNF’s current state is emergent, not in-development — the material has been accumulating from multiple directions on its own. No naming decision is final (“The New Field” is a working title). No methodology exists yet. Home Project set to Continuum per developmental placement, though TNF is cross-project by nature (mmh root, toi tributary, continuum/sgbh neighbor).
