When Hope Meets Intention
Hope, as most people encounter it, is a form of waiting. Something out there that might arrive, might change, might finally come through. When Hope Meets Intention proposes something different: that hope is a present-tense activity, a continuous pursuit of potential rather than a posture of expectation. The distinction is not semantic. It changes what you do next.
The Pandora myth, reread
The book’s structural spine is the Pandora myth — not as cautionary tale but as recognition. What remained in the jar after everything else escaped was not a consolation prize. Hope was always the original content. The myth has been misread as warning; When Hope Meets Intention reads it as map.
The arc
The book moves in four parts across ten chapters. Part I establishes the foundation — redefining hope, naming the gatekeeper (the protective self-loathing that keeps life manageable and small), and orienting toward the Land of Nod as the territory of unactualized potential. Part II works with intention — willed direction, iteration over perfection, integration rather than elimination. Part III enters the clearing work — tears as release rather than weakness, the Dark Night of the Soul as passage rather than failure, boundaries as semi-permeable membranes rather than walls. Part IV arrives at convergence: when hope meets intention, expressed with agency, the mythological constellation resolves — Pandoran, Promethean, Sisyphean — into what Aristotle called eupraxia: not just action, but the right action, from the right ground.
The GATE framework — Gatekeeper, Authentic Desire, Tears, Embody Coherence — organizes the teaching arc across all four parts. It is introduced in Chapter 2, seeded in Chapter 1.
Role in the ecosystem
When Hope Meets Intention is a book about self empowerment and is the recommended introduction to the Continuum — as the primary entry point for anyone wanting to be grounded and centered within themselves as they grow into their potential and develop skills to manifest their dreams. The Shamu Principle is a short read that outlines lateral thinking which is a pillar in the foundation of this work inner work and of manifestation; the Small Group Business Handbook follows as the application layer, taking the inner work developed here into relational and collective practice.
The inner work covered in the book bridges outward too. The directive/receptive framework, the masculine and feminine principles are outlined and the insights are developed across Parts I–III, eventually connecting to the broader social and cultural work of my next book, Escaping Digital Logic.
