Peter Putnam (1920–2003) was a theoretical psychologist whose induction machine theory holds that the human nervous system operates by induction on invariant patterns, and that words are the most invariant correlate the nervous system has access to. His corpus of 10 papers forms the academic grounding for toi’s design architecture. PUTNAM-01 through PUTNAM-06 are fully processed and summarized; PUTNAM-07 through 10 (causal-moral-law, comments-on-history-1966, great-man-phenomenon-1965, life-game-1968) are queued but not yet processed. PUTNAM-06 (“Towards a Verbal NS Model,” 1966) most directly justifies TOI’s design.
